CHIROPRACTIC AND BRAIN IN SANDY SPRINGS
Brain based Chiropractic Care
Stabilizing areas of the brain through body movements and special senses (eyes, ears, smell, taste, touch, vestibular)
Upregulate means an area needs increased stimulated (under aroused)
Downregulate means an area needs less stimulation (over aroused)
Feedback
Humans are a feedback mechanism – an example when you are hungry you get a message in your brain to eat.
Patterns are created by the feedback mechanism. What ever is practiced creates the communication networks, ultimately sending messages back and forth from the brain to the body and body to the brain
Feedback can be positive or negative
- Gut imbalances will send a feedback message to your brain to eat more sugar or foods that break down to sugar (bread)
- Imbalances in brain chemistry, a positive mutation on the MTHFR gene may cause altered feedback to the methylation process (this is how we get toxins out of our body)
- Imbalances with negative feedback will lead to brain-fog, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, depression, hormonal imbalances, and more)
Feedback and neural plasticity
Defined: areas of the brain that receive the right stimulation will get stronger and the areas of the brain that do not receive right stimulation get weaker
Examples –
- At birth, the baby is fully formed but not fully functioning. The baby is brain stem dominant. The baby must move to wire the brain. Children with developmental delay have not been able to utilize the stimulation during their early years to wire their brains in an expected pattern
- The adult, if you sit at a computer all day long (or lots of hours), the posture changes because the chronic flexed position becomes a mechanical stress, and the body takes on the pattern. The pattern of rounded shoulder, forward head translation, weakened core muscles, and strained fixation of gaze (eyes). The feedback to the physical frame and special senses comprises aspects of the brain and body.
Chiropractors are trained to support imbalances. Here are some imbalances that have had successful outcome with Neurologically Based Chiropractic care:
