My Three-Tier Approach To Addressing The Root Causes Of Learning And Behavioral Challenges

My Three-Tier Approach To Addressing The Root Causes Of Learning And Behavioral Challenges

Listen on: Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube

I’m Dr. Laura Hansen, and after 30 years in this field, I realized I might be taking for granted that people truly understand what we do here at Connect My Brain. So let me share my story and explain how we help children reach their full potential.

My journey began in an unexpected place – I was actually headed toward law school! But after working as a paralegal, I knew that wasn’t my path. When my husband entered chiropractic school, I discovered my passion for understanding how the brain and body work together. I ended up creating colorful flowcharts to master complex subjects like organic chemistry, even making $5,000 selling copies to classmates who loved my visual learning approach.

After becoming a chiropractor and specializing in pediatric care, I discovered the incredible world of primitive reflexes and neurodevelopment. This was my biggest eye-opener – learning how the central nervous system actually gets wired up from birth. I became a neurodevelopmental therapist, earned my master’s in sports health science, and became board-certified in neurofeedback.

At Connect My Brain, we take a unique three-tier approach: mechanical (like primitive reflexes), chemical (through functional lab work), and neurological (using brain mapping). We understand that everything is connected – your child’s development, nutrition, brain function, and overall health all work together.

Whether you’re dealing with focus issues, reading challenges, or developmental delays, we look at the complete developmental blueprint. We want to know what happened during pregnancy, birth, and every milestone since. This comprehensive approach helps us understand not just the symptoms, but the root causes.

If you’re curious to learn more, check out our parent membership for resources, or consider an intensive program. Remember – it’s never too late to optimize your child’s amazing brain!

Topics covered in this episode:

  • Dr. Laura’s unexpected journey from aspiring attorney to becoming a pediatric chiropractor and neurodevelopmental specialist over 30 years
  • The three-tier approach at Connect My Brain: mechanical (primitive reflexes), chemical (functional lab work), and neurological (brain mapping)
  • How primitive reflexes and fight-or-flight responses can get stuck in early development, causing focus issues, distraction, and chronic stress in children
  • The importance of developmental blueprints – why understanding pregnancy, birth, and early milestones helps identify root causes of learning and behavioral challenges
  • Brain mapping and neurofeedback – how electrical brain activity reveals developmental patterns and guides treatment for conditions like ADHD, dyslexia, and autism
