Guide To Primitive Reflexes

Moro Reflex

Emerges: 9 weeks in utero

Birth: Fully present

Inhibited: 2-4 months of life

  • Building the sleep/wake pattern and the beginning of “attention”
  • Balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide
  • Activation of the Fight-or Flight System

Retained Moro Reflex beyond 4 months:

  • Under Aroused (ADD) / Over-Aroused (ADHD)
  • Vestibular and proprioceptive instabilities
  • Oculo-motor and visual-perception problems
  • Possible auditory confusion
  • Allergies and altered immune responses
  • Dislike change; doesn’t transition well
  • Low endurance

 Integrating this reflex will:

  • Allow the nervous system to finish the pattern
  • Unpark the brain pattern
  • Allow the child to move forward
