Using neurofeedback to combat chronic stress and anxiety

In today’s episode we’re continuing our neurofeedback series and talking specifically about how our brain creates patterns in the first place and how neurofeedback can be used to interrupt or change those patterns. Neurofeedback is not just about fixing problems or dysregulations but can also be used to help an individual reach optimal performance.

The way we spend our time and the things we think about have a strong influence on the patterns in our brains. Anxiety and stress are normal human emotions but are not meant to run our lives. We should be able to feel stressed or anxious and then shut that feeling off when the threat or stressor has passed. In a chronic stress situation, these responses are never shutting off and cause long-term damage to our brains and bodies. You can do a few things to change these patterns, but I think neurofeedback is one of the most incredible tools out there. If you can see what’s going on in your brain then you can change it. With neurofeedback, we can literally train our brains!

In this episode, we cover:

  • Benefits of neurofeedback
  • How patterns become embedded in our brains
  • The way you spend your time and your thoughts matters
  • Quantifying and identifying chronic stress
  • Using neurofeedback to change embedded patterns in your brain
